Scrooge is a wealthy landlord in
Santa Fe, New Mexico who has long since turned his back on his Mexican
roots. He is a bitter, miserly old man who has no intention of
honoring Christmas, until a heart attack lands him in the hospital.
There, he is visited by the great Native American animal spirit Coyote.
East Mountain Community Theatre - Sandia Park,

Coyote is a humorous character celebrated
in hundreds of Native American stories and legends. He is not only a
great creator who placed the stars in the heavens, but he is also a
shape-shifter and a silly trickster intent on puncturing our puffed-up egos. Coyote introduces Scrooge to three other
spirits, Mariposa, Venado, and La Llorona who
journey with him to his Christmas Past in a village in Mexico, as well as
Christmas Present and Future in his adopted New Mexico.
Orville Wright Middle School - Los Angeles, CA - 2007
Coyote's Christmas Carol
is an award winning play script that celebrates the
cultures of our country's 50 million Mexican and Native Americans. It
is a success with community theaters, universities, and high schools throughout
the world, and is often used in English and drama classes. It could be performed by a cast
of twelve, or a cast fifty; with elaborate design elements, or minimal props. There are three wonderful
original songs
by Diego Flores.
Running time is about an hour and a half.
